Man bites dog! Part 4

Over the last three weeks we looked at the life of Jonah. The story that all took place inside of a timeline of month during which time Jonah received the call to go to Nineveh, ran away from the Lord on a boat to Tarshish. This caused a great storm that nearly broke the boat apart causing Jonah to be tossed into the ocean. 

Then God caused a great fish to swallow him whole for 3 days and then vomit him up on dry ground. At this point, Jonah finally obeys and goes to the great city of Nineveh and they see the miracles accompanying Jonah’s message and the whole place repents in sackcloth and ashes.

Jonah was not happy about their repentance… he wished for them to receive judgment. 

The Lord provided a shade tree for Jonah overnight and then took it away overnight and he was more bothered by his discomfort than the outcome of thousands of people.  And while that is the end of the book of Jonah, turns out Nineveh’s story continues… 

Largely it continues because of the mercy of God.
